Over 150 runners took part in our first Caterham Rotary Half Marathon, on Sunday 20th July, which was sponsored by local independent hospital North Downs.

The first four finishers were (in order L to R in the photo above) Stuart Pearce (3rd), Natalie Harvey -South London Harriers (1st lady home), Matt Collins -London Heathside (1st man home & overall race winner, Josh Pewter (2nd) Haywards Heath Harriers.

Race Management company Nice -Work were contracted to provide the necessary expertise for the event and or member Richard York has commented to the Press saying “We were pleased to have Nice -Work on board and their knowledge and professionalism made a major contribution to the overall success of the day.”

The distance, which consisted of 2 circuits of the roads surrounding Redhill Aerodrome including the village of Nutfield had been specially measured so that the event was approved and timed to count towards athlete’s  performance records as required by UK Athletics.

Emily Watson of Bunny Hop Dance and Fitness provided some very rigorous exercise routines to music before the start so the runners were well and truly ready for the off.

Stuart Emerson General Manager for North Downs Hospital commented:

“North Downs Hospital were very pleased to be involved with such a successful and well organised event.  A huge well done to all of the competitors that took part in the race and well done to the winners.

Our physios were kept very busy with a stream of weary legs at the finish.  Congratulations to all of those involved in planning and organising the first of many half marathons.”

We will be making a donation to The Shooting Star Chase Hospice for Children.
