TITLE – Prospero Theatre, Mind Fitness and Friday Club
SYNOPSIS – Prospero works with about three thousand adults and young people with disabilities each year, using creative ways to make a difference.
Beth Wood is a Director of Mind Fitness and of Prospero Theatre. She is the co-author of Unlock You, published by Pearson.
Mind Fitness is a training organisation that works with tiny charities through to huge corporates. They also with local authorities, childrens’ centres, theatre companies and drama schools, and have teams of practitioners working in schools funded by Children in Need. The Mind Fitness aim is to help as many people as possible to reduce stress, build creativity and resilience and work towards a state of better mental health.
Prospero is an inclusive theatre company, using drama as a developmental tool working with adults and young people with disabilities and mental health issues. Prospero devise and perform plays and educational workshops, touring mostly in the South East.
Prior to Prospero and Mind Fitness Beth was artistic Director at the Arc Arts Centre, Theatre Exchange and ACT and education director at a number of centres. She was a drama consultant for Surrey for eight years, training teachers and writing educational materials. Her journey to Mind Fitness was via Drama Therapy and then Mindfulness.
Beth has written the Drama Activities for six of the Longmans Shakespeare Series and has written plays that have been performed by 16 companies in 5 countries.
