Evening dinner meeting: Speaker Steven La Pensee
30th April 2015 @ 6:45 pm - 10:00 pm
Steven is a fund raiser for St Lukes Hospital Guildford. His latest project is to raise funds for a new Tomo Synthesis breast cancer detection machine At this meeting Steven will talk about this important subject as well as his recent trekking trip to Nepal. He has now written a trip journal which he is selling copies of in order to raise funds towards the purchase of a new Tomo Synthesis machine at St Lukes.
Steven has enjoyed a 40 year career managing and delivering professional services to Defense, Telecommunications, Geographic Information and transport sectors. Having specialised in military command systems during his early days he became a MD of a British Aerospace subsidiary and Non-executive director of Eurimage in 1990.
During his appointments at GEC, Plessey and BAe covering 30 years he built project based businesses in a structured and robust way.
During his subsequent 10 years at BT he delivered business change and business performance improvement in a matrix environment to large teams, and similarly organised groups of people.
His preferred approach is to focus on quality and integrity as seen through the eyes of the client and has persuaded large groups of people to profitably deliver more than they thought possible as a result of his direction and philosophy.
He has sold and delivered internationally into USA, Mid East, New Zealand, Italy, France, and Germany as well as the UK. A major contributor to this achievement has included the forging of commercial alliances both pragmatic for a project and strategic in support of long term business objectives.
Steven regards employee ownership as one of the few effective ways of financially incentivizing staff as it is the only one he has seen act as both a team developer and offer a fair reward for special efforts.
