Caterham Rotary President Stephanie Barrett popped into Knights Garden Centre at Chelsham recently to thank the Knight family for allowing Rotary to use the garden centre as a base for their Christmas collection which produced just under £4000 over the 5 weekends prior to Christmas.

So why are Knights so passionate to help? Duncan Knight Operations Director says

Knights Garden Centres have a long association with the Rotary Clubs of Caterham and Sanderstead and Selsdon together with Caterham and District Round Table. All our Santas who make our “Breakfast with Santa” fun for all the family are volunteers from Rotary as well as our Grotto Santas. During the year they carry out such wonderful work raising money to help support many needy causes in the local area whilst enjoying themselves at the same time.”

Knights two stores provide a wide-ranging service to the communities in Caterham, Woldingham and Selsdon, Sanderstead and Croydon. Their Communications Director Janette Knight comments “We are a community-based family business which is why we are more than happy to help out. We are so pleased that the funds donated by our customers at Christmas time are going straight back into the local community.”

In response Stephanie Barrett said “Our association with Knights goes back many years and we are delighted to be part of their growing community relationships programme.”

Some of the local support that Caterham Rotary have been involved in over the last 12 months has included a senior citizens lunch and entertainment afternoon, a locally based support group for Downs Syndrome, a local blood cancer support network and we have also funded a number of opportunities for young people with initiatives covering sport, photography, leadership development and cooking.
